How to make a cool display case that can be quickly hidden?

Get on line and look up Scrim material. I't basically a trick used on Broadway where there is cloth that appears opaque until it is back lit and then you can see what is behind it. It's sort of the reverse of what you are talking about but it can be painted on the surface so it looks like one scene (artwork) until the lights come on behind it to show something else.
